0:00 – Intro

0:43 – StashAway history

1:43 – How StashAway invest for you
Traditionally, portfolios are optimized using modern portfolio theory, which is trying to maximize your portfolio’s return based on a specific level of risk.

StashAway improves on this strategy by also monitoring market cycles, and rebalance your portfolio accordingly.

2:29 – StashAway portfolios
StashAway has 3 portfolios, general investing, goal based investing and income portfolio. For general investing and goal based investing, there’s no minimum amount to invest. You can just deposit any amount and choose your preferred risk index. There’s a management fee starting at 0.8%.

For income portfolio, you will need to invest a minimum of $10k, and the projected return is 3.75%.

StashAway also has StashAway Simple, which can be treated as a high interest savings account, giving around 1.4% interest.

6:21 – Is your money safe in StashAway?
StashAway stores your money separate from the company’s money, so it’s safe.

7:10 – What I like
Easy to get started. It is incredibly easy to get started. You can easily invest in just a few clicks.
Allows SRS. With this, you can save on taxes while potentially getting a higher return on your SRS money.
Low fees. StashAway charges a much lower fee compared to fund managers.

8:09 – What I don’t like
No CPF. You can’t invest your CPF money with StashAway, while Endowus allows you to do so.
Cannot choose your investments. StashAway doesn’t allow you to choose what you want to invest in.
Doesn’t learn about investing. As everything is done for you automatically, you won’t learn anything about investing.

Kelvin, looks like StashAway Simple reduced their projected interest rate to 1.2% p.a. (just 5 days ago, if I am not wrong)

Kelvin, Endowus seems more friendly to Singaporean-style investing. For instance, they support investing with CPF (which you covered in this video), they save heavily on the forex/trading fee for US stocks, etc. More importantly, Endowus has struck partnerships (Dimensional, PIMCO) and mostly invest in mutual funds while their rival robots like StashAway invest in ETFs. I am curious to know the intricacies behind these choices of StashAway (which is ETF-focused) and Endowus (which is Mutual Fund-focused). Could you please cover Endowus soon? or a comparison of Endowus and StashAway? It will help us (your subscribers/fans/newbies in investing) a lot!
